I worked closely with other designers, developers, and researchers on the core design team to cater to the design needs of the company. I led design meetings and project managed design requests. I helped redesign and project manage our refresh of the account dashboard, where we made it easier for our customers to access their access tokens, statistics, billing, and profile. I worked closely with the product marketing team to create templates to have a more efficient workflow to drive sales. I worked on illustration projects. I led the design for our mobile conference app. I helped with front-end development and reviewed pull requests when resources were low. I worked with the Studio team and cartographers to make it easier for the novice developer to design a beautiful map using our product, Studio. I worked on the driver/passenger navigation experience. And I continually worked on improvements to the accounts experience for our customers.

I worked closely with product managers, developers, user researchers, and designers to redesign existing VA applications to be more delightful to use. I led the redesign of how Veterans talk to their health care team, release and view their electronic health records as well as checking on the status of their appeals. I also helped with the redesign of how Veterans refill their VA prescriptions and Vets.gov homepage.

With a team of product managers, developers, and UX researchers, I worked as the lead visual designer on the alpha release of the U.S. Web Design Standards. I designed a visual style guide for government websites that was open source, 508 compliant, and composed of responsive UI components now used by over 100 government sites. I also helped out on the initial visual design and iconography for College Scorecard.

I worked closely with the product manager, engineers, and UX researchers designing and implementing the teacher workflow. The teacher workflow consisted of assigning activities to students, grading, finding common core standards, and searching activities. I designed wireframes, performed user testing with teachers, designed high fidelity mockups, and helped with implementation in time for the launch of their first official school year.

I designed marketing material for all of the 5 programs of Code for America. I designed and implemented a responsive and interactive annual report. I designed a book cover and responsive site where people could read CfA's first open data book. I worked on prototyping possible applications to help cities and worked on our style guide. Additionally, I mentored fellows with their projects including RecordTrac, an app that won best civic app on GovLoop.

I worked for the City of Chicago, where I was in charge of designing and performing user testing of web applications that dealt with 311 data. One of the projects I worked on was The Daily Brief, a site were cities could see their 311 data on a map and filter that data. It was used in a Harvard Business School study on government transparency by Ryan W. Buell and Michael I. Norton. I also worked on 311 Service Tracker, a site where citizens could look up their 311 service requests to see what was going on with their request. In addition to those apps, I helped design Honolulu Answers as well as other materials for Code for America as a whole that included a newsletter template, the initial site for their Accelerator program, and an icon known as the flag tag.

As the sole designer, I designed new products, experiments, and various marketing collateral from web to print that impacted over 3 million users. Additionally, I started their user testing program. I conducted several user testing sessions. I worked closely with the CEO and product manager to take action from users’ feedback. Besides user testing, I implemented a number of other design methods including developing personas, paper prototyping, wireframing, interactive brainstorming as well as creating several iterations of mockups in an agile environment.
